The Jamesport City Council has voted to increase wastewater fees to help pay for future upgrades to the wastewater system that are expected to be required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Those upgrades have not yet been finalized. Jamesport is in the process of obtaining a permit.

The new rates call for a base fee of ten dollars on the first one thousand gallons and three-dollars sixty-five cents for each additional one-thousand gallons of water.

Currently, the rates are four dollars ninety-five cents on the first one thousand gallons and one dollar twenty cents on each additional one thousand gallons.

An ordinance still needs to be approved for the new rates, which are expected to show up on bills received in September for August usage.
