Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District Chief Kenny Roberts reports a fire caused extensive damage to a house at the intersection of Routes O and Y Tuesday evening.
The Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District provided mutual aid to the Spickard Fire Protection District at the house owned and lived in by Donnie and Nancy Burkeybile. He says the couple was not home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. Someone driving by saw smoke coming from the residence and reported it.
The home is considered to be unlivable, and Roberts says he is unaware of any clothes or food drives for the family. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short.
Grundy County Rural Fire was on scene a couple of hours, and Grundy County Ambulance was also at the scene.
