Highway patrol arrests woman after crash near Brookfield

An accident five miles to the north of Brookfield early Sunday evening resulted in what the highway patrol called minor injuries for the driver, then her arrest.

The patrol reports 36-year-old Courtney Carter of Sumner was to seek her own treatment. Not injured was a passenger in the car, 13-year-old Beau Kunkle of Linneus.

The state patrol said the car was southbound when it ran off Linn County Route M and struck an embankment. Damage was moderate for the car.

Both persons were using seat belts.

The highway patrol said its investigation resulted in the arrest of Courtney Carter who was taken to the Brookfield police department.

The report from the patrol listed a probation violation warrant from Mississippi.

Other possible charges included driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving and no proof of insurance.
