Highway 36 accident in Shelby County sends driver to hospital

An accident occurred on Highway 36, half a mile east of Lentner, on July 8, 2024, at approximately 7:55 a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Shelbina Fire Department, responded to the scene.

According to the accident report, a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, driven by 62-year-old Janet L. Baker of Clarence, Missouri, was traveling eastbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. The Buick overturned into a ditch and became partially submerged in water.

Janet L. Baker sustained serious injuries in the crash. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Baker was transported by MU4 helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for medical treatment.

The Buick Rendezvous was declared a total loss and was towed by Shelbyville Auto Parts. Progressive Insurance covers the vehicle.

Trooper Fuller, along with Corporal Lewis, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and the Shelbina Fire Department, were on the scene to assist.
