The Trenton First Baptist Church held a “Helping Hands” project Saturday to help area youth get ready for school.

The project provided clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant.

Although a count was not kept on the number of persons served during the two-hour period, it was estimated at more than one hundred people.

The items were donated by the church congregation or purchased from donations from the congregation, the church budget, and bible school offerings.

Church member Marjorie Keuhn of Trenton said the event went very well, and the church plans another project in December featuring Christmas items and clothing.
