Heartland Foundation will celebrate the transformation of emPowerU with an open house on May 29, 2019.

Join Heartland Foundation on May 29 from 4-6 p.m. to tour the renovated emPowerU Central area and enjoy refreshments. Guests will be the first to see the redesigned collaboratories, experience virtual reality stations and will be the first to hear 2019 civic engagement topics.

Dr. Julie Gaddie, Heartland Foundation president, said she is excited for Heartland Foundation stakeholders and the public to see the changes made to emPowerU.

“Thanks to the generosity of many during the ignite Campaign and ignite Annual Fundraiser, Heartland Foundation was able to upgrade the technology and renovate the programming space at emPowerU,” Gaddie said.

emPowerU is a place and a program. The Downtown St. Joseph facility is technology rich and designed to support collaboration and possibility thinking.

emPowerU was created to host programs that raise youth’s awareness of the importance of civic responsibility and to provide them with the opportunity to impact positive change. Since 2007, more than 20,000 students have experienced the impact of emPowerU programs such as the Civic Engagement Immersions and e2 Fellowship.
