The Grundy County R-5 Board of Education approved a bid for audit services Wednesday evening.

The bid from Conrad and Higgins, LLC was the only bid received, and the services are to be provided for three years. Superintendent Phil Fox reports the cost for the services will be $5,550 for the first year, $5,850 for the second year, and $6,150 for the third year.

The board approved the school calendar for 2020-2021. The first day of school for Grundy R-5 will be August 25th, and the last day is scheduled for May 13th, 2021. The school day will run from 8 o’clock to 3:15. The calendar includes 1,104 hours. March 12th and 13th were approved as possible makeup days for this school year.

The board approved an update to the high school student handbook regarding activity eligibility. Fox says the update involved the correcting of a typo in a section about grades and grade point averages to participate in activities.

The administration increased the bandwidth for the district from 20 megabytes to 30 without a cost increase. The board will consider another increase next year to 50 megabytes.

Bids will be sought for mowing at the high school and elementary school.

Insurance information was reviewed for the 2020-2021 school year. The district is part of the Ozark School Benefits Association. The board took no action on the matter but directed the administration to survey staff regarding insurance coverage concerns.

After a closed session, it was announced Bailey Kasinger’s employment was approved as a fifth and sixth-grade basketball coach.
