Grundy County will officially become a Purple Heart County at a ceremony next week.
Senior Vice Commander Walt Schley will represent the Department of Missouri Military Order of the Purple Heart at the event at the courthouse in Trenton Tuesday morning at 8:30. Everyone is invited to attend, especially Purple Heart recipients, veterans, and their families.
County Clerk Betty Spickard says the county commissioners want to honor Grundy County citizens who have received the Purple Heart for their contributions and sacrifices for our country as well as veterans.
