Last Friday, July 22, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department announced it had received reports of a large number of handguns and long guns that had been stolen in three recent burglaries at Spickard.

Grundy County Sheriff Rodney Herring now reports a portion of the stolen guns were anonymously returned over the weekend to the same building where they were allegedly taken from.

Herring noted a couple of other guns and ammunition were still missing.

The announcement last Friday said items were taken from a vacant building, a mechanics shop, and a gas station. Each of the structures has separate owners.

That investigation at Spickard is continuing.
