The Grundy County Courthouse in Trenton experienced a cybersecurity breach on Friday, January 30, 2020.

Grundy County Clerk Betty Spickard said the breach affected the county’s server and computers on it, including those used by the offices of the county clerk, collector-treasurer, and assessor. Information technology was able to recover some information from a cloud back up company, and IT continues to work on the matter. It is unknown how deep the breach went.

Spickard reports county offices at the courthouse do not have access to their computers, but they have access to phones. She suggests residents wanting to pay their taxes bring in their bills.

The court offices, the prosecutor’s office, and the law enforcement center were not affected by the security breach.
