Grundy County Commission reviews FEMA projects related to flooding in Grundy County

The Grundy County Commission on Tuesday morning reviewed Federal Emergency Management Agency projects related to flooding last year and discussed work completed at several sites.

There are 12 project locations: Northeast 64th Street, Northeast 80th Street, Southwest Aspen Lane, Northeast 37th Street, Northwest 85th Street, Northeast 25th Street, 350th Avenue, Halie Avenue, Southeast 120th Avenue, Northeast 70th Avenue, Southeast 60th Street, and Southeast 20th Street. County road signs have been repaired or replaced while conditions are too wet to work on disaster damage sites.

The Grundy County Road and Bridge Department is accepting applications for a welding/driving position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Presiding Commissioner Phillip Ray notes the applications can be submitted to the county clerk’s office in the courthouse in Trenton.

Shannon Howe with the Howe Company signed papers for a BRO (Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation) bridge project on Southwest 80th Street.

During a conference call, Grundy County Health Department Director Elizabeth Gibson reported no cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county. Other counties in Region H without confirmed cases include Mercer and Holt. Region B counties Sullivan and Putnam also have no reported cases of COVID-19. Region H involves Northwest Missouri, and Region B involves Northeast Missouri.

Grundy County Emergency Management reported the State of Missouri recalled more than 40,000 N95 masks from previous distribution due to a failed test done by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
