The Grundy County Clerk’s Office will work with voters who do not want to be out in the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any Grundy County resident wishing to vote absentee by mail for the Municipal Election moved to June 2nd can send a letter to the Grundy County Clerk’s Office requesting a ballot be mailed. The letter can be sent to 700 Main Street in Trenton, Missouri 64683. A person can also request a ballot by emailing [email protected].

County Clerk Betty Spickard asks that the request include the address to which the ballot is to be mailed if it is different than the voter registration address and a phone number at which the person can be contacted if there are questions. A mailed request should also be signed.

Absentee ballots will be sent directly to the voters. They can be mailed back or put in the treasurer’s dropbox on the north side of the courthouse. The treasurer will deliver any ballots in the dropbox to the county clerk.

Spickard says this process will avoid the process of requesting, mailing, and signing of an application for a ballot and help shorten the mailing process.

She notes the courthouse is not locked, but anyone who does not want to come inside can also vote absentee curbside for the June 2nd Municipal Election. Residents can call the county clerk’s office to request ballots at 359-4040 extension 4, the office will

process the applications, and ballots can be brought to voters outside of the courthouse. Persons can vote inside their vehicles before the county clerk’s office will finish the process and bring the ballot back inside.
