Grundy County Clerk Betty Spickard reminds residents that filing for the August Primary Election will begin next Tuesday, February 25th and run through March 31st.

Grundy County offices required to file this year for new terms in 2021 are First and Second District commissioners as well as the assessor, collector-treasurer, coroner, public administrator, and sheriff.

Candidates need to fill out a Form 5120, have it notarized, and mail it to the Missouri Department of Revenue before filing with the Grundy County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse in Trenton. A copy of Form 5120 and a list of political party members can be picked up at the county clerk’s office.

Candidates need to bring a copy of the form and a receipt of payment for filing dues to their respective party when filing for office.

Spickard notes anyone filing for sheriff needs to have a valid peace officer license. Those filing for collector-treasurer and public administrators need to have proof they are bondable.
