Missouri Governor Mike Parson will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon at the 18th Annual Great Northwest Day at the Capitol in Jefferson City.

The lunch will be held on February 4th and kick off the two-day event focused on raising awareness of Northwest Missouri to state legislators and departments. The event will include introductions on the House and Senate floors, round table sessions, and a main evening event to provide an opportunity for community representatives to promote their communities to legislators and others. The event will conclude with a regional breakfast on February 5th.

The Great Northwest Day Steering Committee has gathered and prioritized issues facing the region. Those priorities include investing in sustained rural economic and community development strategies and supporting prekindergarten through 12th grade and higher education, innovation, and career development for all ages.

Others are ensuring end-of-the-road high-speed internet through broadband and fiber, reviving relevant infrastructure throughout the region, and increasing rural access to affordable primary and mental health care.

Registration for Great Northwest Day is $75 per person before January 29th and $95 after. More than 300 individuals from the 19-county region are expected to attend Great Northwest Day.
