The first Gooseberry Open disc golf tournament is planned at Moberly Park in Trenton on June 18th.

Registration is that morning at 8 o’clock. The tournament begins at 9 o’clock.

Although participants may use any disc or frisibee, tournament director Tyler Busick noted discs designed for disc golf work best.

Persons can pre-register for the tournament by telephoning or e-mailing Tyler Busick at [email protected]. Pre-registration for the Gooseberry Open also can be done via Facebook.

The first fifteen persons to pre-register receive two free discs, a putter and a driver.

After that, there will be eight sets of discs available to reserve and purchase, on a first come basis at twelve dollars a set. Registrants are asked to take cash so prize money can be awarded at the conclusion of the tournament. Any funds exceeding the prize money are to go towards next year’s tournament.

The entry fee is fifteen dollars for persons ages sixteen and older, and ten dollars for youth under age sixteen.

Prizes in the older division are first place fifty dollars, a Discraft bag, and four discs; second place twenty five dollars, a Discraft bag, and two discs; and third place two discs.

Prizes in the youth division are first place twenty five dollars and two discs, and second place two discs.
