Two northern Missouri economic development organizations are to work together to address goals.
During a meeting of the Northwest Missouri Round Table of Economic Developers and the Northeast Missouri Development Partnership, three areas of focus were identified.
They called for better broadband policy and implementation, rural economic development legislation including incenting capital investments, and communications.
Each organization is to select representatives to participate in joint task forces. Efforts are to be made to meet regularly as a north Missouri region.
The focus areas arose from discussion about common economic development goals shared by all communities and counties in the thirty two county region. They included job creation, youth retention and attraction, and business retention.
North Missouri attributes were identified as an entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, excellent secondary and post-secondary schools, low crime rate, and untapped resources.
