Gentry man seriously injured in horse-drawn vehicle crash

A Gentry resident was hurt Wednesday morning when a pickup truck hit the rear of a horse-drawn vehicle west of Albany.

24-year old Christian Mast, the operator of the horse-drawn vehicle, was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Albany with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup, 41-year old Christopher Fritzel of Gentry, was not reported hurt.

The accident occurred about five miles west of Albany on Highway 169 as the pickup truck and the horse drawn vehicle were southbound when the pickup hit the rear of the horse-drawn vehicle demolishing both vehicles.

The patrol reports Fritzel was wearing a seatbelt, but Mast was not using a safety device.
