The Gene Kauffman Scholarship Foundation, Incorporated Board of Directors approved 23 female graduates of North Mercer and Princeton high schools to receive $117,639.44 in scholarships for the Spring 2020 semester.

Eleven recipients are attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton. Five are attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Four are attending Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph.

A trust established by the late Edward “Gene” Kauffman of Princeton funds the Gene Kauffman Scholarship Foundation. Kauffman specified in the guidelines he established that scholarships are to be awarded to female, non-married, non-smoking graduates of Mercer County high schools who have evidence of need. The recipients must also be enrolled for and pass at least 12 credit hours at an accredited Missouri college or university. They also have to maintain a certain grade point average. Each of the recipients certified they meet the criteria as established by Kauffman and the board of directors.

Each applicant must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by April 1st to be eligible for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. Applications for the Fall 2020 semester will be available starting May 1st in the Princeton or North Mercer principal’s offices. The applications will also be available on each school’s website.
