GEC Community Foundation awards 12 grants to area schools and organizations

GEC Community Foundation, Incorporated trustees have awarded 12 grants totaling $6,560.

Several area school districts were awarded education grants: Newtown-Harris R-3 of Newtown, Cainsville R-1, Princeton R-5, North Mercer R-3 of Mercer, South Harrison R-2 of Bethany, Gilman City R-4, Pleasant View R-6 of Trenton, Grundy County R-5 of Galt, Laredo R-7, and North Daviess R-3 of Jameson.

The Grundy County Council on Aging, Incorporated of Trenton was awarded a Rural Development Grant.

The GEC Foundation has awarded 653 grants totaling $390,374.62 to schools and community organizations in Grundy Electric Cooperative’s 12-county service area since 2005.

GEC member donations called Operation Round Up fund the grants. Operation Round Up allows GEC members and customers of the Grundy County Public Water Supply District Number 1 to voluntarily round up their utility bills to the next even dollar. The Public Water Supply District Round Up funds are disbursed solely to projects in Grundy County.

The next GEC Community Foundation grant application deadline is July 1st. Qualified applicants must be a non-profit 501(c)3 organization or other eligible entity.
