Hurricane Harvey and historic flooding afterward have devastated the gulf coast. As a result, gas prices in Missouri and elsewhere have risen significantly.

Mike Right with the Triple A organization says the sharp increase reflects the large role Houston and its region play in oil refining.

Right told the Missourinet that he expects gas prices to go up just a little more, before starting to go back down once the oil refineries recover.

Gas station signs at Trenton as of this article display a price of $2.45 per gallon, however, Right added he expects gas prices to top out at about $2.50 a gallon on average in Missouri because of Harvey.
