The Gallatin Board of Aldermen approved a bid for a street project at its meeting Monday evening.

The board voted to accept Herzog’s bid for Jackson and Johnson Streets for $140,224.50. Keller also bid at $152,680 and Norris declined.

The chipper machine sold for $7,300 in an online auction. City Administrator Tony Stonecypher and Public Works Director Mark Morey are looking for another chipper machine to purchase.

The board recommended Morey take off the motor on the paver machine that is not working.

The board approved to accept the Water Plant Contractor’s Application for Payment of $170,142.14.

It also approved a resolution designating April 18, 2017, as Gallatin Lineworker Appreciation Day.

Stonecypher reported that the UV lights at the waste water plant need to be replaced.  The cost to replace all sections is $26,000, but the board decided to replace two sections for $3,500 each with a UVI sensor kit for $2,000.

Stonecypher requested an engineering bid for repairs to 1,200 feet of water main from Richardson Street to Andrew’s Tire.

Eric Kloepping, Mike Bradley, and Morey passed their lineman test this month.

A special meeting will be held this Wednesday, April 12, during the afternoon at 3:45 to accept the official election results.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from March 27 to April 10.
