A location on southbound Interstate 35 in Clay County was the scene of a four-vehicle accident Monday morning.

Four individuals, including three in a vehicle from Chillicothe, were injured and transported to Liberty Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

The highway patrol reports vehicles driven by 54-year-old Randy Mullen of Chillicothe and 28-year-old Robert Agnor of Holt were stopped in the left lane of I-35 due to traffic congestion at 6:40 Monday morning and a car driven by 35-year-old Tyson Taylor of Lawson was stopped in the right lane. A trooper reported the accident occurred when a southbound vehicle driven by 63-year-old Larry Chipman of Cameron struck the rear of Mullen’s vehicle, pushing it into the other two stopped vehicles.

Mullen wasn’t injured, however, three passengers were hurt.  They include 37-year-old Amy Ketchum of Chillicothe and 26-year-old Christina Walters of Saint Roberts with moderate injuries as well as 38-year-old Danielle Rodell of Kansas City with minor injuries. Vehicles driven by Chipman and Mullen were demolished with lesser amounts of damage, from minor to moderate, were noted to vehicles driven by Agnor and Taylor.

All occupants were using safety devices and assisting the highway patrol troopers were Clay County deputies as well as the Kearney and Holt police departments.
