Four area health departments report on new cases of COVID-19; Daviess County to hold COVID-19 vaccine clinic

The Harrison County COVID-19 dashboard shows an increase of 20 cases since January 10th. There were 1,764 total cases as of January 11th, and 36 were active. There had been 1,352 confirmed cases and 410 probable cases.

The Livingston County Health Center on January 12th reported 18 COVID-19 cases had been added since January 11th. That brought the total to 2,747 cases. The number of active cases went down four to 110.

The Putnam County Health Department January 12th reported seeing a spike in the number of cases of COVID-19, influenza—particularly influenza A, and strep throat. There have been 45 COVID-19 cases so far this year, and the cumulative total was 816. There had been 20 COVID-19-related deaths.

The health department believes it is seeing the Omicron variant in Putnam County due to the rapid spread and report of symptoms. Community members are asked to stay home if they are sick, maintain a healthy diet, seek medical care for routine visits and testing if sick, receive appropriate vaccines, and avoid large gatherings if possible.

The Sullivan County Health Department January 12th confirmed four additional COVID-19 cases, raising the total to 1,433. There were 42 active cases. As of January 11th, 41.3% of the Sullivan County population was fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Daviess County Health Department of Gallatin will hold a COVID-19 vaccination after-hours clinic next week. Individuals at least five years old can receive a vaccine on January 20th from 9 until 6 o’clock.

Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, and the children’s Pfizer vaccines will be offered.
