During a meeting of the Foundation Trust for THS Board of Directors, following Trenton alumni activities over the weekend, members voted to contribute $4,000 toward the purchase of a television and projector system for use in the high school Commons.

$1,000 will be donated to assist in concrete work at Rissler Elementary School designed to eliminate a muddy area there. That project is expected to cost approximately $15,000.

In other financial news, the board accepted a proposal from the Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri to design a “School Spirit Card” with $10 per debit card issued by the local financial institution going to the Foundation Trust for THS.

Members also approved a transfer of $232,105.00 to establish a fund with the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri for the investment of funds earmarked for the CF Russell Turf Project.

Updates were heard on the Turf project and additional plans were made to pursue all options and to continue interviewing contractors and developers for the final design of the turf project. Donations are being accepted and are tax deductible.

Officers for the coming year were re-elected with Doctor John Holcomb as President, Steve Muff as Vice President, Steve Maxey as Secretary and Becky Allnutt Cochran as Treasurer. Reports were given by board members reflecting on alumni activities. Superintendent Dan Wiebers told about the past school year and current activities of the Trenton R-9 School District.

Plans also were made to implement a Window Decorating Contest for next year’s Alumni Weekend with cash prizes to be awarded. This comes about following efforts last year, and again this year, to showcase “class memories” in downtown store windows as an additional way to promote the reunion.

Other plans made include preparing a visual display for use during Alumni Weekend highlighting the many projects and contributions over the years that have been made by the Alumni Association and Foundation Trust to the R-9 School System.

It was announced THS student and Girl Scout Elle Neal is continuing the project of scanning THS yearbooks and placing them on the high school website. It had been started by Eagle Scout Nic Gass. Board Members and Superintendent Wiebers noted the tremendous amount of “hits” the site receives and the impact of available records through this site. The Foundation Trust for THS has assisted in the purchase of the scanner for use by the High School Journalism Department and others.

Plans were made to hold a meeting of all class representatives later this year to distribute class mailing lists. It’s also to begin updating addresses instead of just those of the five-year incremental classes who celebrate reunions.

This is expected to allow for more effective mailings and also involve the classes in organizing upcoming reunions.

An announcement also was made of the 2018 steering committee with Greg Dalrymple to chair the 25-year class reunion representing the Trenton High School Class of 1993.
