Former Trenton man charged with felony after fatal crash

Prior to being involved in a fatality accident in southwest Missouri last week, 56-year-old Michael Dean Glidewell of Branson, formerly of Trenton, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.

The accident at Branson one week ago on November 30 claimed the life of the driver of a car  34-year-old Talat Kopurtas of Branson.

The highway patrol states Glidewell was driving a concrete truck when it went out of control on a curve, crossed the centerline of Highway 76, and struck the car head-on. Glidewell sustained minor injuries and was released from the scene to seek treatment at Cox Hospital in Branson. The Investigation by the highway patrols’ major crash team noted Glidewell, as required by state law, was tested for alcohol.

According to the Branson Tri-Lakes newspaper, (http://bit.ly/2g8pOWU) five days before the fatal accident, Glidewell was arrested for driving while intoxicated at a different location.

The Taney County Prosecuting Attorney’s office accused Michael Glidewell of driving while intoxicated, alcohol, aggravated offender on November 25th. By state law, (577.023.2) an aggravated offender involves a person who has pleaded guilty or has been found guilty, of three or more intoxication-related traffic offenses.

Online court records for Taney County show the arrest warrant was issued Friday, December 2nd with no bond set. While the investigation continues into the November 30 fatal accident, authorities indicate Michael Glidewell could potentially face additional criminal charges.
