Former Bethany Mayor receives probation on charges of forgery in Division One of circuit court

A former Bethany mayor entered a plea of guilty to two felony counts of forgery in Division One of Harrison County Circuit Court on Thursday.

The court suspended formal imposition of sentence for Robert Todd Williams and ordered him to be placed on probation for five years under the supervision of the Department of Probation and Parole with the court’s regular special conditions.

Williams was ordered to pay restitution of $11,138.40 as well as a prosecuting attorney fee of $75.00. Costs were assessed against Williams, and judgment was rendered against him for the benefit of the Crime Victims Compensation Fund for $46.00.

Williams was originally charged with four counts of stealing and 11 counts of forgery.
