First Day Hikes to be held at Missouri State Parks including two at Crowder State Park

Annual First Day Hikes will be held at 31 state parks and historic sites in Missouri.

Guided hikes on January 1st include two at Crowder State Park west of Trenton and one at Wallace State Park south of Cameron. Half-mile and three-point two-mile hikes taking visitors along Tall Oaks Trail or a portion of the trail will begin at the Shelter 3 parking lot at Crowder State Park at 10 o’clock that morning.

Two-mile and three-point eight-mile hikes taking visitors along the North Thompson Trail or a portion of the trail will begin at the Equestrian parking lot at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.

Registration for the Crowder State Park First Day Hikes is not required but is encouraged. Contact the park for more information at 660-359-6473.

A one-mile guided hike through the wooded campgrounds at Wallace State Park will start at the campground shower house parking lot the afternoon of January 1st at 1 o’clock. The hike on the park’s paved roads will include opportunities to see winter birds, bird nests, and animal tracks.

Visitors can call Wallace State Park on January 1st to check for a cancellation due to inclement weather at 816-632-3745.
