The Livingston County Health Center has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Livingston County.

Health center Director Sherry Weldon says the case is not travel-related, and the patient is a 64-year-old woman who is now quarantined at home. Weldon made the announcement on Saturday afternoon.

Staff at the health center are working with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to determine any close contacts the individual may have had who were possibly exposed to the Coronavirus. If any contacts are identified, health officials will then provide guidance to those individuals and they will be monitored to see if symptoms develop.

Once again, officials are urging the public to take appropriate precautions which include limiting in-person contacts, social distancing, and good hygiene.

Weldon says people should stay home if they are sick and avoid close contact with others in order to limit any spread of infection.
