The Chillicothe Farmers Market season kicks off in May.

Chillicothe Farmers Market Secretary-Treasurer Tonja Tiemeyer says the market will be open on the south side of the courthouse in Chillicothe from 4 until 6 o’clock Tuesdays through August 13th.

The Chillicothe Police Department reports the Jackson Street parking area on the south side of the courthouse will be closed from 3:45 to 6:15 for a trial period to see how it affects traffic flow and safety.

The Chillicothe Farmers Market Tuesday sessions allow individuals commuting to Chillicothe during the week to attend the market and not have to make another trip on a weekend.  The farmers market began its Saturday sessions April 27th and is located on the west side of the courthouse from 8 to noon and will continue through October 5th. Tiemeyer says homegrown and homemade items will be for sale at the farmers market, including produce, honey, jams and jellies, farm-raised meat, plants, crafts, and baked goods.

Presentations are planned for each Saturday morning at 10 o’clock on a variety of topics, and each is expected to last half an hour to an hour. There will also be presentations on some Tuesday evenings.

The Chillicothe Farmers Market will be held Tuesdays and Saturdays rain or shine unless there is severe weather. Contact Market Master Lisa Geiser for more information at 573-353-9481.
