Advance plans have been announced for a fund raising softball tournament in Trenton on Saturday August 20th.
It’s the third annual North Missouri Emergency Service charity softball tournament. Games are to be played at the Griffin ball field in Trenton. There’s an August 15th registration deadline.
The cost is 150 dollars per team, with checks to be made payable to Green Hills Rural Development which has an office at 1104 Main in Trenton. Checks should have Trenton Fire Department in the memo line. It’s anticipated teams will be put together
to represent emergency responders; fire fighters; and law enforcement.
A contact about the softball tournament is Kevin Berry of Trenton at 654-3049.
The competition is being organized through efforts of the Trenton Fire Department, Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, Grundy County Ambulance, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, Trenton Police, and the Highway Patrol.
All money raised will be donated for two causes.
One is the backpack buddies weekend food nutrition program for selected children of Grundy County schools.
Funds also are to be raised for a new local initiative known as ICE. This stands for “In Case of Emergency.” The new program is designed to teach girls from the rural areas about life-saving skills; while introducing them to possible careers as emergency responders including those involved medical services, fire fighting, and law enforcement service.
