Dumpster fire threatens gas tank at Chillicothe business

The Chillicothe Fire Department, on Thursday night, went to Sydenstricker Farm and Lawn, where a dumpster was on fire, next to a gas tank.  The fire was extinguished, and the tank was cooled with water.  An employee used a fork lift to move the dumpster away from the tank.

CFD Lieutenant Tracy Bradley quoted a service manager as saying a hay baler was received at the shop late on Thursday afternoon, with a bearing removed.  The baler was washed prior to the work being done it it, but it is believed the bearing may not have cooled enough before it was placed in the dumpster.

The Fire Department was dispatched to Sydenstricker about 4 1/2 hours after the baler arrived at the business.
