Driver of SUV strikes deer near brookfield

The Highway Patrol reports a boy from Sumner was taken to the hospital as a precaution after a sport utility vehicle struck a deer five miles south of Brookfield the afternoon of Friday, July 10th.

An ambulance transported the 13 year old to the Pershing Memorial Hospital of Brookfield. He and the driver, 24 year old Kendra Foster of Sumner, were reported as not injured.

The SUV traveled south on Chariton County Route TT before hitting the deer on the road. The vehicle received extensive damage.

The Patrol notes the driver and boy wore safety devices.
