The Highway Patrol reports a Winona, Minnesota man sustained moderate injuries after losing control of a heavy-duty semi-truck on ice eight miles southeast of Winston on Thursday morning.

Emergency medical services transported 65-year-old Scott Emerson to the Cameron Regional Medical Center.

The truck traveled south on Interstate 35 before it ran off the west side of the road, struck a guardrail, went down an embankment, struck a private fence, and hit a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels against the tree with moderate damage.

Emerson wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.
