The Missouri Department of Conservation hosts a free white-tailed deer management workshop Saturday, October 22 in Chillicothe.
Topics include managing deer on private land, an overview of Missouri deer research, hunting regulation changes, and establishing landowner cooperatives to improve deer habitat.
Speakers at the workshop include University of Missouri research scientist Jon McRoberts who is leading a major study in Missouri in partnership with the conservation department.
Those from the conservation department scheduled to speak are private lands deer biologist Kevyn Wiskirchen, private land conservationist Scott Roy, and conservation agent Jake Strozewski as well as Alex Foster of the Quality Deer Management Association.
The free white-tailed deer management workshop is Saturday morning from 9 until noon at Comfort Inn Suites conference center in Chillicothe.
Those wishing to attend are asked to register by Wednesday, October 19 by contacting Scott Roy at the U.S. Department of Agriculture center in Trenton.
