Princeton Chamber of Commerce reports coronations are scheduled this coming Saturday as the community prepares for Calamity Jane Days.

The Calamity Jane Pageant will be held at the Methodist Church in Princeton. That pageant begins at 7 o’clock in the evening. Earlier, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, the Little Miss Calamity and little Wild Bill contest will begin. This competition is open to children ages four and five. The entry fee is $5.00 per child. There will also be a Prince/Princess contest for three-year-olds on Saturday.

The Calamity Jane tractor cruise will leave from the Mercer County fairgrounds at 9 o’clock Friday, September 15th. When they return that afternoon around 4 o’clock,

the tractors will be on display around the Princeton square. That evening there will be a supper at the Mercer County Senior Center followed by the awards, music by the Lifeline Band and the serving of homemade ice cream.

The Calamity Jane parade Saturday, September 16 begins at 1 o’clock. Registration starts at 9:30 that morning at the City Barn. Judging begins at 11 o’clock but all entries must be in line by 12:30 if not being judged. Smithfield is in charge of the parade. Jim Sturm is Grand Marshall for his many years of volunteer work around town.

The Princeton chamber also reports new flower planters around the square are complete. The chamber says Dwayne and Diane Place are refurbishing the trash cans to match the planters.
