COLUMBIA, Mo. (MUTigers.com) – Following its initial design debut to fans last June, the new Mizzou Softball stadium project construction officially began this week. The new home of Tigers Softball will be located east of the Hearnes Center.

Heading into groundbreaking, plans remain for the new facility to be completed in time for the 2017 season. Mizzou and the new softball stadium is slated to host the 2018 Southeastern Conference Tournament.

The new stadium will provide Tigers fans with a “full-view” concourse and outfield plaza, a 1,600-1,700 seat venue and outfield bermed lawn area offering increased capacity for an additional 1,000 spectators.

Additionally, the new home of Mizzou Softball will displace 503 current parking spaces in Lot M. A new parking lot and relocated Marching Mizzou practice space has been built south of Champions Drive at Providence Point. The old practice space has been converted to parking. There will be a total net increase in parking of 59 spaces.
