A business owner from Calico Rock, Arkansas will speak to Northwest Missouri community leaders at two locations next month.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri will sponsor Steven Mitchell’s talk on “Bringing Life Back to Your Small Town, One Business at a Time” October 9th.

Mitchell will discuss the successful revitalization of Calico Rock’s Main Street business district at the Conley Center in Maysville from 7:30 to 9:30 that morning and at the First Presbyterian Church in Brookfield from noon to 1:30.

Mitchell and the local Museum Board raised money to buy seven main street buildings and put businesses in them. They are debt free, and the businesses provide about $5,000 per month in added sales tax revenue for the town. When the project began, only one of 18 storefronts were occupied in Calico Rock.

The presentations will include a question and answer session with Radio and television broadcaster Andrew McCrea will introducing Mitchell. Steve Maxey with the Community Foundation says McCrea guides individuals and businesses to discover the extra that brings excellence in business and life.

The presentation in Maysville October 9th will include a continental breakfast with the Brookfield presentation to include lunch.

The admission costs $20.00 and you may call the Community Foundation at 816-232-2022 or email [email protected] to register for the event.

Mail payments to 1006 West Saint Maartens Doctor Suite B, Saint Joseph, Missouri 64506. Payments will be accepted at the door with pre-registration. Checks are preferred.
