“Christmas Around the Square” set for this weekend in Princeton

The Princeton Chamber of Commerce is reminding the public about Christmas related activities this weekend.

Christmas Around the Square will be observed on Saturday, December 3 with Santa arriving by fire truck at 5 o’clock. Santa meets with children in the basement of the Hal England Center with free cookies or donuts, and hot chocolate. A Children’s Store is for kids to purchase inexpensive gifts and hot dogs will be available for a donation. Around 6 o’clock, the Princeton bandstand in the center of the Square has a ceremony to light a Christmas tree and sing Christmas carols. The Princeton Band and Choir will perform. Children may bring an ornament to hang on the Christmas tree in the town square.

The Stacy Center sponsors a Homes Tour Sunday, December 4th. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at The Famous or from any Stacy Center board member.

The Princeton Chamber and Grundy Electric Cooperative announce the Christmas Lighting Contest for 2016. The contest is open to Grundy Electric members in Mercer County with forms available at The Famous, Kelly’s Hairum or the Grundy Electric office in Princeton.

Prize money will be awarded; first place award $75, second place $50 and third Place $25. If persons need more information, call the Famous at 660-748-4445 or Kelly Bertrand at 660-748-4009. Winners will be announced December 23.

Next meeting of the Princeton chamber commerce will be at First Baptist Church in Princeton December 14th at 12 noon which is open to the public.
