The Missouri State Fair announced its queen on the opening day of festivities, with Claire Walker of Chillicothe earning the crown.
Walker, who participated as the Livingston County Fair Queen, was selected from a pool of 31 contestants. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon during the opening ceremony at the state fairgrounds in Sedalia.
As the newly crowned Missouri State Fair Queen, Walker receives a $2,000 scholarship and other prizes. She will be attending various events throughout the fair’s duration.

Walker, the daughter of Brice and Tiffany Walker, joins the ranks of other notable participants from the area. Other finalists included Miss Linn County Mikaela Rojas and Miss Putnam County Emma Whitlock.
The top ten contestants moved on to the final round, where four runners-up were selected before Walker was announced as the queen.
