Chillicothe Police Department responds to stabbing

Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department responded to a stabbing Friday evening.

Upon arrival in the 500 block of Waples Street, officers arrested Corey Jay-Michael Gibson, accusing him of first-degree assault. Gibson was transported to the Chillicothe Police Department where he was processed and released into the custody of staff at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.

Livingston county prosecuting attorney Adam Warren filed two felony counts: assault in the first degree causing serious physical injury to another person as well as armed criminal action.  Online court information shows bond for the 17-year-old youth has been set at $5,000 cash pending an arraignment in the Associate Division of circuit court.

The victim of the stabbing, whose name was not released, was transported to Hedrick Medical Center by Chillicothe EMS for treatment.
