The 70th Annual Holiday Parade, presented by the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by Hedrick Medical Center, HyVee and Midwest Gloves & Gear.

“It is going to be a great parade this year,” stated Crystal Narr, Executive Director of the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce. “The theme of Decades of Celebrations is very fitting for our 70
th annual parade and we have a great number of entries that have already been submitted.”

The Grand Marshal honor this year will be filled by two local entities. The Chillicothe Education Foundation, who will be represented by President Ed Douglas, and the City of Chillicothe, represented by Councilman-atLarge David Moore, will be honored as the Grand Marshals for our 70
th annual parade. “These two entities were the primary advocates of this year’s bond issue which was passed by the local voters. This issue was very important to the future of education in our community. We are so happy to be honoring them this year.”  according to Ronni Clark, Parade Committee member.

The parade will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 19th and will include floats and entries from many different organizations, youth groups, churches, businesses and individuals throughout Chillicothe. Many bands or musical groups from around the area will also be involved as a part of the parade, including the Chillicothe High School Marching Hornets and the Chillicothe Middle School 7th grade and 8th grade bands.

KC Wolf, the official mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs, sponsored by Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling and Sluggerrr, the official mascot of the Kansas City Royals, sponsored by Pepsi-Cola Bottling will also make a return visit to the Holiday Parade along with many other area mascots.

“As always, we are so thankful for our overall parade and special entry sponsors – they truly make this event possible for our community,” states Narr.

Parade judging will take place during the parade, with the announcement of the winners to follow on Saturday afternoon. Entries will be judged in the following categories: Business entries, Non-Profit Group or Organization entries and Youth Organization entries.

The parade entry deadline is this Friday, November 4, 2016. Letters detailing parade number and lot location will be mailed prior to the parade to those who have entered. Please remember all entry forms must be fully completed, including contact information and description of what is to be announced about the entry during the parade.
