Chillicothe Holiday Parade draws more than 90 entries

An excited crowd bundled up on a cool Saturday in Chillicothe as the annual Holiday Parade drew more than 90 entries which were judged on the use of the theme, originality, and appearance.

The Bishop Hogan Memorial School received the Grand Marshal trophy and also placed first in the float division for non-profit organizations.

The other first place finishers in the float categories were Busy Bees 4-H Club in the youth division and McCoy, Samples, Mattingly Dental in the business/organization Division.

Penny high school took honors as the top band.

The parade was presented by the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Hedrick Medical Center, Hy-Vee, and Midwest Gloves and Gear.

Chamber Director Crystal Narr was quoted as saying “The holiday parade is a treasured community event which kicks off the local Christmas season. The chamber is grateful for all the organizations, businesses, and families which took time to enter the parade and looks forward to the 71st annual holiday parade on November 18th, of next year.”
