Chillicothe firefighters late Wednesday night about 11 p.m. went to a residential location at 2111 Meadow Lane Circle in Chillicothe to check on conditions after occupants reported they had used a fire extinguisher and water to put out a kitchen fire.

The fire, on a cook stove, had extended up into cabinets and the ceiling, in addition to areas around the stove.

After arriving at the scene, the Chillicothe fire department removed the stove which was described as having sustained heavy fire damage. A thermal imaging camera detected heat above the stove. Firefighters pulled the ceiling above and around the fire area, then removed the cellulose insulation. After another review with the camera, the department verified there was no further evidence of fire.

The owner of the residence was listed as Pat Early.
