Chillicothe firefighters yesterday afternoon went to a farm location west of LIV Road 233 where a controlled levee burn had gotten away from the land owners and spread into nearby timber.

The department reported the owners, listed as Phil and Gary Willard, were concerned they were not going to be able to stop the fire from spreading further into the timber and off their property.

Chillicothe Fire Department was able to control the fire that had consumed approximately two acres total. Firefighters were at the scene between West Third Street and West Polk Street for about two hours Monday. No property damage was reported.
