Chillicothe Fire Department responded Monday night to a call of a semi-tractor and trailer on fire three miles west of Chillicothe.

The department noted the big rig was being driven when the driver reported the brakes overheated after they locked up.

Damage was limited to the left rear wheel and axle area.

When Chillicothe firefighters arrived at the scene on eastbound Highway 36, smoke was coming from the drivers side rear axle area. The driver had used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The Chillicothe department used some 200 gallons of water to cool the rear axle and wheel hub.

The driver was listed as Greg Horn of Dayton, Ohio. The big rig is owned by Old South Trucking Company of Cedar Hill, Tennessee.
