Chillicothe authorities have called in the Fire Marshal to investigate a suspicious fire at a playground.
The Chillicothe Fire Department responded late Saturday afternoon to a fire in Simpson Park around 5:00 pm, and while en route to the call, were informed that the location was a playground located on Walnut Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, a press release states that the department found the entire playground engulfed in flames. The fire involved a rock climbing wall, a swing set, fence and tire chipping.
Authorities report that a cellphone was found near the origin of the fire and that the investigation is continuing.
