The Highway Patrol reports the drivers of a car and farm tractor sustained serious injuries when the car struck the tractor one mile east of Bethany Thursday afternoon.

Seventy-one-year-old Daniel Heyle of Bethany and a 16-year-old male from Ridgeway were transported by ambulance to the Harrison County Community Hospital. Heyle was then transferred to the North Kansas City Hospital.

Both vehicles traveled west on Highway 136 before the car struck the rear of the tractor, which caused the tractor to run off the north side of the road and overturn. The tractor came to rest on its side facing east, and the car came to rest on its wheels partially on the road facing northwest.

Both vehicles received extensive damage. The Patrol notes the juvenile wore a safety device.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the crash.
