The Highway Patrol reports six children from Kidder sustained injuries when a car hit their horse-drawn buggy five miles north of Hamilton Thursday morning.

The buggy, driven by 10-year-old Abraham Bontrager, and the car, driven by 53-year-old Glen Seger of Hamilton, traveled east on Route D near 190th Street when the car struck the rear of the buggy. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane and received extensive damage.

Abraham Bontrager and four of his passengers, 8-year-old Allen and 11-year-old Susan Bontrager as well as 15-year-old Lydia and 11-year-old Susie Miller, all sustained what the Patrol called moderate injuries. Ambulances transported them to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

The Patrol reports 13-year-old Jemima Miller sustained serious injuries and an ambulance transported her to Children’s Mercy.

The Patrol notes Glen Seger did not receive any injuries and wore a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
