A man from Braymer was fatally injured when he was thrown out of his overturning vehicle on Thursday afternoon two miles south of Braymer.

The highway patrol identified the victim as 71-year-old Russell Coldiron.

Coldiron’s pickup was northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve on Route E, he overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the road where it began to overturn and struck an embankment. The pickup continued to overturn several times, ejecting the driver, with the pickup coming to a stop on its wheels in a field along the north side of the road.

Russell Coldiron was flown by Life Flight Eagle to the Liberty Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead 90 minutes after the accident occurred.

The vehicle was demolished and the patrol reports Coldiron was not using a seat belt.
