A Braymer resident was among three persons injured in an accident yesterday at a Clinton County intersection, five miles to the east of Lathrop involving a car, pickup, and semi truck.

The highway patrol listed injuries as moderate for the driver of a pickup, 59-year-old Ivan Swindler of Braymer who was taken by ambulance to Liberty Hospital.

A passenger in a car, 62-year-old Diana Hopwood of Liberty, was listed with serious injuries and flown by medical helicopter to the Liberty Hospital.

The driver of the car, 65-year-old Jimmy Reece of Kansas City, received what the highway patrol called minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a Kansas City hospital.

The truck driver was 36-year-old Kody Lawrence of Kansas City, Kansas.

The highway patrol reports the car was southbound on U-S 69 and the pickup was westbound on Highway 116 with the semi truck eastbound on Highway 116. Officers reported the car allegedly failed to yield and pulled into the path of the pickup. After impact, the pickup continued westbound and struck the semi head on.

All persons were using safety devices. The car and pickup were demolished with the large truck listed as having moderate damage in the accident about 1 o’clock on Wednesday.
